God Will Bring Them Back.

God Will Bring Them Back.

1 John 1:9 (ESV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Revert – return to. I heard this word when I was watching a documentary about Muslim girls in america and how they were finding life being so visible in America. One of the girls in the documentary did not look Muslim and then she talked about how she was a revert to the religion. She then explained that Muslims don’t say convert, they say revert because they believe that they are not converting but returning to Allah (Allah translates to God.) This struck me because that’s what I was starting to realise about Christianity, that those who belong to God return to Him. I had listened to two testimonies that really spoke to me about this. These testimonies and mine combined made me realise that once God is in your life you can go on to live a lawless life but when you get to the end of your sin and the beginning of God you are not converting to Christianity you are returning back to God.

Today in church the pastor was speaking about the first church. But he started the service by speaking about how in England (not sure if he said the U.K.) 95% of children do not know God or have a connection to church (something along those lines.) He then spoke about how in the past most people would have at least one person in their family who was connected to a church. Most people’s connection would be their grandma and she would be praying for them. But we no longer have that now for a lot of reasons, different religions, family situations, ethnic diversity, fear of the Bible, the list can go on and on.

University Tips & Advice.

University Tips & Advice.

Ecclesiastes 7:12 (ESV)
12 For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money,
and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

I thought I would write a different kind of post. One about university.
When I went to uni I went into it with no knowledge of what I was getting myself into. I look back on university and I do wish that I had gone into it with a bit more preparation for what was yet to come. BUT I am thankful for my whole experience even though it was not the best. I disliked uni and wanted to leave towards the end of second year but the people around me convinced me to stay. I am thankful that I did not quit and I completed the course. If I’d left I would have received a very expensive diploma not a degree.

After I completed my course I knew I didn’t want anything to do with the course because that had been my thoughts for over a year, BUT God had a different plan for my life. 3 years (wow) since graduation (which I didn’t attend) I have found myself producing work that is infinitely better than all the work I created at university. For someone who did not want anything to do with my degree or the industry I spend a lot of my time creating work that has to do with my degree.

Anyways back to this post. I will be sharing my tips and advice for university from lived experience and from an if I could do it again I would do this perspective.

First Year  Students. Do your research; course, campus, city, career prospects.

When I went to university I think like a lot of people I wasn’t prepared because uni is just another step on the education ladder. You go there, do your time and you graduate. I didn’t think too much about all the other things that are a part of university because my university plans changed drastically when I found a course that I liked.

Do your research! This is the most valuable part of preparation for university…

Keep On Going, Don’t Give Up.

Keep On Going, Don’t Give Up.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (ESV)
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control,[a] lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

This is to all the baby Christians out there. Keep on going babies. You may be feeling like you want to give up or things are too much for you and you can’t carry on. Don’t give up, keep going. You won’t even notice it when you have beaten those things that are making you feel as though you can’t carry on. Keep on praying and being faithful. Always, always ask God to help you out when you’re struggling with anything. Cry out to Jesus when the enemy attacks.

Ephesians 6:12 (NIV UK)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

You’ve probably heard a lot of preachers saying their old lives are not lives that they could ever go back to. That is so true, if you are struggling and you’re wanting to turn back because your life seems tougher than it used to be. Don’t give up. The road gets rougher before you see a breakthrough. In my walk with God, -which I had a reminder of today- I haven’t woken up one day and saw the change and then have lived in it. I have only seen the change when I thought about how I used to be, what I would have done in a certain situation etc.

A lot of the things that God changes in our lives we will not actually see the exact moment that we changed. We are more likely to look back and realise that we aren’t sexually immoral; angry, hate filled, jealous, greedy, what ever you used to be anymore. Just because you can’t see a difference in one area of your life it does not mean that you are not moving forward. Others may see a change in you that you don’t see in yourself yet.

It is also very true that the more you find yourself in battle when you are walking life with Jesus all it means is that you are on the right track. When you are walking with God and making changes in your life, the devil will fight against you. (Matthew 12:26, Luke 11:18) The devil is there doing things to make you give up. Why? Because if you give up there’s one less person he has to fight against. For the most part this spiritual warfare will manifest itself through your emotions. That’s why you may feel uplifted on day and then the next something happens and then you start to doubt whether you are on the right track and then depressive thoughts kick in. When spiritual attacks happen and they manifest in your emotions pick up the Bible and speak the truth of God’s word over your life. The Psalms are a great place to find spiritual warfare winning words. Read your Bible so that you many know what it says about who we are. Drown out the devils lies with God’s life giving word.

Keep going, if you wobble or fall always know that God is there. Ask Him to give you a hand to steady yourself or to pick you up.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV UK)
12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Church Life Update.

16/07/2017 – Church Life Update.

Romans 12:4-5 (NIV)
4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Alpha came to an end on the 9th, it was a chit chat and certificate receiving session. I missed the away day and the next session of alpha. I was not comfortable with sitting in someone’s house for 6 hours when I’m not that familiar with the people and am new to the church. (I may write about my past concerns about going to church.) So that’s why I missed that day, I then didn’t attend the next day because I couldn’t make it to church. But all in all my alpha experience was actually quite enjoyable, I made some new acquaintances and it helped to make me feel more at home in the church.

I would recommend alpha to anyone who feels as though they are being moved by the holy spirit to do it regardless of how new or not new you are to Christianity. You could be there for the sole purpose of God wanting you to preach to people, make new friends, see that you aren’t going wrong in your walk with Christ. If God wants you there go.

After the Alpha course most people continue on with a different course that’s all about going deeper. But I decided not to do it because it would be 8 more weeks of not being in church. And I have missed being in church, I’ve missed praise and worship and being in that atmosphere. If the course was on a different day I probably wouldn’t be as committed to going, but because it’s on a Sunday during church I would rather spend it in church for now and then maybe do the course later on in the year or at whatever time God leads me to it.

What Alpha Has Taught Me:

  • Read the Bible for yourself.
  • Do your best to interact with people in life.
  • Always open yourself up to God’s word and direction.
  • Go to God first before going to anyone or anything else.
  • Treat any and all opportunities as a chance to learn something new.
  • Verify or disprove (for yourself.) what people say about what’s in the Bible.
  • Church life is a lot easier when you feel welcome and a part of the community.
  • Don’t just attend church, be a part of the church. Contribute in anyway you can.

Don’t Grow Weary In Doing Good.

Don’t Grow Weary In Doing Good.

Galatians 6:9 (NIV UK)
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

In this season of my life God has brought me back to exactly where I started to lose my faith and trust in Him. I used to think that I lost my faith a lot further along the line than I actually did. But only a few days ago I started to really think and I realised that I actually lost my way with God within growing weary in doing good and not when I was “really sinning / doing the big sins”.

The Downfall Of Queen Vashti – Dephne Madyara.

This video broke down Queen Vashti’s fall from being the Queen and it tied in perfectly with what I am writing about.  Her fall happened long before she even refused the King’s request for her to appear in front of the banquet guests.

Some of the things that had been playing over in my mind were; honour your father and mother, accounting for my life when judgement day comes, peer pressure, bad influences just to name the things I do remember. When I thought about all of these things a common thread was doing the right thing. Honouring your mother and father is not about respecting what they say or do or obeying everything it is about doing what is right regardless of all the wrongs. When time comes to account for my life, I will have to tell God what I did with it and I will have to explain why I didn’t do the right thing when I was supposed to. Within peer pressure and bad influence we sometimes find ourselves doing the wrong thing in order for us to fit in or be accepted by those around us.

With all these things running through my mind I thought about my life, what I had done wrong and why. And I found reasons to justify my behaviour but it didn’t make it right. I had lost my character in doing what I thought was right and I was justified to do. The good character traits that God had blessed me with had all been chipped away thanks to me deciding to stop doing right because “I was being treated unfairly.” Continue reading “Don’t Grow Weary In Doing Good.”

Source: Why You Shouldn’t Be Jealous Of Anyone

“You know when you’re jealous of someone because every single thing that they do becomes irritating to you. You try to pick them apart and find something not to like about that person. You go from tolerating them, to accusing them and becoming suspicious of that person. You rationalize your thoughts because “you know that something just ain’t right.” Then, you are convinced that your opinion of that person is what God really thinks about that person.

Do you know that God has NOTHING to do with your negative thoughts and accusations towards that person? The DEVIL himself is coming to kill, steal and to destroy your life. If he can cause more confusion and division between you and a sister in Christ – he has succeeded. Are you taking the BAIT from satan? Some of us willingly walk up to him and take the bait and end up hating everyone all because jealousy and envy stuck its ugly head into our relationships.”
