The Year Ahead.

The Year Ahead.

Isaiah 61:1 New International Version (NIV UK)
The Year of the Lord’s Favour
61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]

ny fresh start

A New Year offers new beginnings but without putting in work to ensure that what you hope for isn’t like the many New Year’s resolutions that are not completed we all have to take each day as it comes and enjoy life to the fullest.

God is madly in love with you – Hillsong – Good Grace. Hearing these words yesterday was a reminder that God is madly in love with me and He is working in my behalf to ensure that I live this life that he bought for me to the fullest.

Farewell 2018

18/1/19 | As the month draws to an end I wanted to hop on here to encourage those who have forgotten about or maybe even given up on their New Year’s resolutions; hopes and dreams. Keep on hoping and dreaming; working towards those goals and finding ways of achieving them. I won’t bore you with the figures and statistics about failed resolutions in this post.

Love Your Neighbour.

Love Your Neighbour.

Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV UK)

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

27/1/19 | Have you ever thought about this scripture and asked yourself “where do I begin? How do I love my neighbour as myself? Who is my neighbour?” I have been there and done that. I asked myself all these questions and more.

Today at church the guest pastor said these words:

“your neighbour is ANYONE outside of your comfort zone.”

C O M F O R T | a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.

God Is The Only One Who Knows You.

God Is The Only One Who Knows You.

Hebrews 4:13 (NIV UK)
13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

CUSTOM PSALM 139:13 (ULTRASOUND) | BUY HERE

20/11/18| This week whilst watching a church meeting that God is doing great and mighty things through. I heard these words in the teaching “the enemy does not know you” and I have been thinking a lot about this lie that we have been believing for far too long. Truth is the only one who knows you is GOD! (Psalm 139) Many of us have said to ourselves, “the devil knows me too well, this is why he keeps attacking me.” Satan / the devil does not know you at all! I know there have been times when I felt as though the enemy knew me too well. But I did not realise that this is a lie straight from hell that only keeps us in fear of living. (future post on life and living, I will pray about that.)

Remember Why You Started.

Remember Why You Started.

John 14:6 (NIV UK)
6 Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

remember why you started 2

Can you remember what made you look at Jesus / Christianity in a new way and made you want to pursue a relationship with Jesus?

Can you remember your journey towards belief in Christ and ultimately Salvation?

A few days ago after days of attempting but failing to put a post together about some of the thoughts I’ve been having I looked back on a post I wrote What Alpha Has Taught Me?“. As I skimmed through the post the below stuck out to me for a number of reasons.

Read the Bible for yourself.
Verify or disprove (for yourself) what people say about what’s in the Bible.

What A Beautiful Name – Hillsong Worship

Psalm 95:1-2 (NKJV)
A Call to Worship and Obedience
95 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

A while back I saw some tweets about how listening to past chart music in the present opened people’s eyes to how much they didn’t pay attention to lyrics when they were younger. The lyrics were either very age inappropriate or sending a terrible message. I laughed at the examples I was reading until I experienced it for myself and realised the depth of the songs I was singing as a child/teen.

This has made me pay attention to the Christian music I listen to because I want to know the words I am singing as well as understanding why I may be a little bit more hopeful and joyful whilst singing along to certain songs.

I am starting with the Grammy award winning What A Beautiful Name because it is one of my favourite Christian songs. I definitely had it on repeat the first few weeks / months of hearing it. I do not know how many of the over 200mn views I have contributed to the video but it’s a lot. (I threw in 200mn to encourage those of us who sometimes think that because the world seems outwardly far from God that actually over 200mn views shows that people are knowingly or unknowingly hearing, singing and proclaiming the name of Jesus.)

Why Do I believe? [Challenge.]

Why Do I believe? [Challenge.]

John 20:29 (NIVUK)
29 Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’
(emphasis mine.)

A while ago I came across a YouTuber who whilst speaking about something -that I do not fully remember- said these words. “I always ask the youth I work with this question; why do you believe? You have to know why you believe in God for yourself.” At the time I applauded her for posing this question to the youth because it is a vital one on this journey with Christ. But I didn’t stop to ask myself why I believed.

This was until a few weeks ago I asked myself why do I believe? I had been thinking about what I would say if someone asked me why I believed in God and I couldn’t find a personal reason other than God has changed my life and made it better. (This isn’t to say this is an invalid point, this answer lacks a personal depth that is needed at times.) At this point I was a little bit taken aback. I didn’t understand why I didn’t have a more in depth answer because of the personal journey I have been on with God. I forgot about it; went to bed, had a few emotional days and in the midst of tears that were fuelled by guilt I realised something. I knew why I believe in God and it was more than he changed my life.

Song Of The Day – Just Want You

Song Of The Day:

Sarah Reeves – Just Want You

Psalm 95:1-2 (NKJV)
A Call to Worship and Obedience
95 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

Verse 1:
Take the lead of every step I make
Even if You tell my feet to wait
Cause where You is where I wanna be
The depth of me is calling for the deep

Chorus:
I don’t want it if You’re not in it
I just want You
I don’t want it if You’re not in it
I just want You
Your heart Your ways show me Your face
Your song Your voice break through the noise
I don’t want it if You’re not in it
I just want You
I don’t want it if You’re not in it
I just want You God

Verse 2:
Whisper to me secrets of Your heart
I want to discover all You are
I’m leaning into Heaven for a glimpse
And I will partner with Your presence here again

Bridge:
All that I see be my everything
All that I dream lay it at Your feet
All that I am falling on my knees
I surrender I surrender
(Repeat)

The Daniel Dilemma – Pastor Chris Hodges

The Daniel Dilemma – Pastor Chris Hodges

Daniel 3 (NIV)
The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace
“…6 Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

Daniel 6 (NIV)
Daniel in the Den of Lions
6 So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever! 7 The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den. 8 Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”
9 So King Darius put the decree in writing.
10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

There is so much to unpack regarding what Pastor Chris is preaching about but I thought I would share the video and then maybe in a future post I may share what has really convicted me about Daniel and his handsome friends lives.

But for now take a few minutes out of your day to enjoy some powerful words that are relevant for this day and age.

Thank You For Reading & God Bless.

All the Single Ladies. Now, Put Your Hands UP!

All the Single Ladies.

Now, Put Your Hands UP!

Song of Solomon 2:7 (NKJV)
7 I [a]charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the gazelles or by the does of the field,
Do not stir up nor awaken love
Until it pleases.

A huge day is ahead of us. If you haven’t heard Prince Henry & Meghan Markle are getting married tomorrow. (I went with his official name not his plucked out of nowhere nickname.) I wish this couple well and hope that their lives are blessed and they enjoy their new marriage.

download

This may be a tough time for some of the single ladies out there. So I wanted to share some thoughts with you…

You desire marriage but you don’t even have a boyfriend.
You’ve seen the pictures of your peers’ bumps, rings and new houses.
Your relatives are constantly asking you when you are going to get married.
You’re afraid that you’re going to be left on the shelf!

I wanted to remind you that God hears your prayers and knows what you need and are ready for.

1 Corinthians 7:32-35 (NKJV)
32 But I want you to be without [a]care. He who is unmarried [b]cares for the things of the Lord—how he may please the Lord. 33 But he who is married cares about the things of the world—how he may please his wife. 34 There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband. 35 And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.

If God has not placed you in a relationship. Remove that idol from your life and seek him for what he wants you to do with your life for his kingdom and glory.

Remember that God blessed Sarah with a son when her body was well past child bearing. [Genesis 17:17-19]
Sticking with Sarah she was well into her maturity when she went to Egypt but what does the Bible say about her beauty? [Genesis 12:11-15]
Solomon had 700 wives -yes, they were not wives he should have been married to- if Solomon can marry 700 women; God can definitely look after your one. [1 Kings 11 verse 3]

During this wedding season please don’t feel discouraged when you see your peers getting married, when you see couples pictures online.

Remember that this life is more than marriage and what God wants you to have he will give it to you.

Thank You For Reading & God Bless.
